So here’s an update from this globe-trotting nun…well, that might be an exaggeration…
Nun-theless, while I am enjoying a few breaths of fresh air in the mountains of North Carolina, I am catching up on some volunteer web site design for my sisters over in Lyon, France. Good to be brushing up on my PHP/MySQL skills…wish I had the time to start from scratch with Ruby on Rails, but they’ve been waiting long enough, and the summer is passing all too quickly!
So I took a rather roundabout route to get here. First by way of Baden to attend the Silver Jubilee of three of the women I shared a year with in novitiate, and then a few days with my Trinity Convent gals. Then a 1.5 day NSF-sponsored workshop on the role of centers of teaching and learning in engineering education in Arlington, VA. Landed here at my friends’ place near Bryson City on Saturday. Some rest, some canoeing, some hiking, just what the doctor ordered.
The photograph is from a scenic overlook from somewhere along the route I took on Saturday. I do love the ocean, but there is something about mountains and fresh, running streams that tugs a little more insistently on my heart strings. Tomorrow is an early morning hiking day, so I shall sign off for now.
